About 1 cup of Italian breadcrumbs
2 beaten eggs
1 block (340 g) of Le Populaire cheese (preferably refrigerated for a melting texture)
4 tbsp. of olive oil
Tomato sauce
Place flour, breadcrumbs and beaten eggs in 3 different bowls.
Cut the Le Populaire cheese block once thickly, then make ½-inch strips lengthwise to make 24 sticks.
Dip the sticks in the following order: flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs. Repeat a second time for an even thicker crust.
To facilitate baking, place Le Populaire cheese sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for about 30 minutes.
Heat the oil in a deep-frying pan and fry a few sticks at a time for about 1 to 2 minutes to obtain a nice golden brown.
Drain on paper towels.
Serve hot with a little tomato sauce on the side.
