Ingredients

  • About 1 cup of flour
  • About 1 cup of Italian breadcrumbs
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 block (340 g) of Le Populaire cheese (preferably refrigerated for a melting texture)
  • 4 tbsp. of olive oil

Preparation

  1. Place flour, breadcrumbs and beaten eggs in 3 different bowls.
  2. Cut the Le Populaire cheese block once thickly, then make ½-inch strips lengthwise to make 24 sticks.
  3. Dip the sticks in the following order: flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs. Repeat a second time for an even thicker crust.
  4. To facilitate baking, place Le Populaire cheese sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for about 30 minutes.
  5. Heat the oil in a deep-frying pan and fry a few sticks at a time for about 1 to 2 minutes to obtain a nice golden brown.
  6. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve hot with a little tomato sauce on the side.
