A Story of Passion

From our family to yours since 1989

Edmond Bergeron starts his own cheesery, Meuldor, fueled by milk from local farmers and his love for cheese.

His sons, Raymond and Égide, acquire the thriving cheese factory on Rang des Plaines in Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly, where they begin producing cheddar.

With the arrival of new regulations, centralization, and the creation of cooperatives, Meuldor was acquired by Agrinove, which is now Agropur.

Fromagerie Bergeron was born in 1989 from the passion and expertise of Raymond and his wife Colombe, passed down to their children, Sylvain, Chantal, Mario, and Roger.

Fromagerie Bergeron undergoes three major expansions during the 2000s to keep up with the growth of its market and the increase in sales.

Mario and Roger become owners of the family business, ensuring the continuity of Fromagerie Bergeron with the fourth generation.

Our vision
To find Bergeron products every day on family tables, bringing moments of pleasure to savour and share together. Our aspiration is to be a brand deeply anchored in the hearts of Canadians, recognized for its authenticity and family values that are passed down from generation to generation.

Our mission
To boldly design and transform trendy cheeses and dairy products whose high quality is recognized by Canadian enthusiasts.
Bold cheeses
Since 1989, Fromagerie Bergeron has established itself as Canada’s master of Gouda—a cheese that was once nearly unheard of in the country. Faced with the absence of a permit to produce cheddar, our family took on a bold challenge: to create a unique cheese that would become our signature. The Gouda Classique, now known as Bergeron Classique, was born from this drive for innovation.
Our revolution began with a simple yet radical choice: red wax coating. Traditionally reserved for export cheeses, we turned this technique into a defining feature of our brand. This decision not only shaped our identity but also redefined the standards of the Canadian cheese market.
Rooted in authenticity, innovation, and leadership, Fromagerie Bergeron has grown into more than just a company—it has become a symbol of quality in Canada.

Recognized for Quality
The quality of our products is a precious value for Fromagerie Bergeron. By participating in internationally renowned competitions each year, we guarantee that our products are exceptional. Since 1989, we have won more than a hundred awards.

A company and products committed to future generations.
En apprendre plusSmall change, big difference!
Since 2021, we’ve been reducing our ecological footprint by installing hands-free faucets and aerators to cut down on water consumption. Every day, this saves around 6,000 liters of water, or the equivalent of 40 full bathtubs!
Fewer heavy trucks on our roads
Since January 2020, we’ve eliminated over 800 truck trips transporting our whey by investing in a reverse osmosis system. This project has reduced more than 250,000 kilometers traveled and saved over 150,000 liters of diesel in just one year. That’s the equivalent of circling the Earth 6.25 times!
A worthwhile investment for the environment
The purchase of a reverse osmosis system allows us to save more than 20,000 liters of water per day. This system divides the whey into two parts, separating the concentrated whey from the water. We then reuse the water to wash certain production equipment.
