For the Smash Burger Tacos

  • 454 g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) Mexican chili powder
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) salt
  • 6 wheat tortillas, 15 cm (6 in)
  • Smoked cracker cut slices

To Serve

  • Spicy mayonnaise
  • Sliced avocado
  • Lime wedges
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Crushed spicy tortilla chips

Preparation

For the Smash Burger Tacos:

  1. Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F). Set a baking sheet next to the stove.
  2. In a bowl, mix the ground beef with the chili powder and salt.
  3. Divide the meat into 6 portions. Spread and press each portion of meat directly onto a tortilla, ensuring the meat reaches the edges, as it will shrink during cooking.
  4. In a lightly oiled skillet over medium-high heat, place a
    tortilla, meat side down. Cook for 3 minutes, pressing occasionally with a spatula. Flip and cook for another minute.
  5. Transfer the cooked tortilla to the prepared baking sheet, top with a slice of smoked Bergeron cheese, and keep warm in the oven.
  6. Repeat with the remaining tortillas.

To Serve: Garnish each taco with spicy mayonnaise, sliced avocado, a drizzle of lime juice, cherry tomatoes, and crushed tortilla chips. Serve immediately.
