A frequent Caseus winner over many years, Fromagerie Bergeron’s Louis Cyr strong cheese is once again in the running for honours this year. Louis Cyr was crowned with a Caseus Silver award in 2015 and Caseus Bronze in 2016. At the British Empire Cheese Show in 2016 it also took first prize in the firm cheese category. This cheese displays the taste of umami and the milk used to make it is always painstakingly selected from a shortlist of farms recruited by the company. The results speak for themselves with Louis Cyr being named a province-wide champion two years running.
The first cheese in its lineage, Bergeron Classique is on the shortlist for this important recognition, which makes us enormously proud! With its distinctive red wax coating, it’s become a veritable icon for Fromagerie Bergeron. Le Coureur des Bois is distinguished by the addition of cumin which is uniformly distributed throughout the cheese giving it the perfect flavour profile. Le Fin Renard, one of VP Mario Bergeron’s inspirations, satisfies the taste buds with a flavour combination of earthiness and mushroom. The wax coating on this cheese was replaced with a tasty washed rind. The awards will be presented on September 12, 2017. Staff are on the edge of their seats, anxiously awaiting the evening’s results!
