Brothers Roger and Mario Bergeron confirmed, on March 29, a $ 20 million investment over four years for the expansion and modernization of their Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly plant. As a result, they will receive a contribution from the federal government of up to $ 3.9 million.
More specifically, this investment will allow the acquisition of equipment for the purposes of modernization, process improvement and the acceleration of new product development.
The funding Fromagerie Bergeron received today is an important step. This contribution exemplifies, in the current context of international trade, the government’s support for the industry.
“It’s very ambitious, very daring what we are planning to do,” says company president Roger Bergeron.
The work will touch all departments from reception to refrigeration and affect all equipment in between. “The government support is for modernizing and improving our efficiency. At the same time, we want to develop new products. We have innovative ideas and we need different machines,” says Bergeron.
The company produces cheese seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Currently, more than 250 people staff the cheese factory.
The Bergeron brothers will rely on the strength and know-how of their team to meet this challenge. It is thanks to the unfaltering support of their staff that the brothers decided to embark on this ambitious project. “We cannot do this alone, my brother Mario and I. If we attempt it, it’s because we believe in the ability of our team. We know that, together, we can do it,” says Roger Bergeron.
And, as a motivated and forward-looking company with a long track record of success, there is every reason to believe the brothers can.
